Statement re: county vote

A statement from Vulcan Materials Company regarding the Kendall County Board 7-3 vote on the Peart Application

August 15, 2007 - We are extremely disappointed that the County did not hold to the standards they adopted for judging the application. As staff, outside expert consultants, and the State's Attorneys office all uniformly indicated, our application met every criterion for rezoning.

We are vigorously pursuing every legal option and expanding our team of experts to bring this first-class, socially and environmentally responsible operation to Kendall County's mining district. We are very confident that we would be successful in a lawsuit against the county.

We will expand our investment in Kendall County and the Village of Lisbon, and as the industry leader we will continually raise the bar on ourselves and our competitors - this is in the public's best interest and the way we do business.

Note: The zoning change required a super majority of 8. The board voted 7-3 in favor of the application.
