July 26, 2007 - Final preparations are underway for this year's Kendall County Fair, with new events and activities planned to make it the county's biggest fair yet. This year's theme, "Come hear us play!" is indicative of all the new and returning personalities and bands that will be appearing on the Family Stage.

Vulcan Materials Company is the newest sponsor of this year's Kendall County Fair, which features four days of fun and entertainment for all ages.

Don Theobald and Steve Novak, Vulcan's plant manager and general superintendent, respectively, recently presented a $3,000 donation to Fair Director Mike Drendel in support of this year's events.

"We are extremely happy to sponsor this terrific event and promote local agriculture, the partnership is a natural one for us," Novak said. "As the old saying goes, 'If it's not grown, it's mined.'"

The fair will run all weekend, starting Thursday, Aug. 2 at the corner of Route 71 and East High Point Road in Yorkville.

"We are pleased to welcome Vulcan to our community," Drendel said. "Because of the generosity and support of all our sponsors, this year's fair will offer new events for family fun and entertainment, and new opportunities to promote local agriculture."

Vulcan Materials Company operates Lisbon Quarry on Joliet Road off Rt. 47 in Lisbon.

The fair is highlighted by a new Battle of the Bands competition as well as a professional bull riding show, a talent contest, and a demolition derby to conclude the event.
